  The Life Skills Experience
The Links Course at Paso Robles has over 120 youngsters seeking certification in the Life Skills curriculum. Program director, Bart Ellerbroek wrapped up a successful season on October 1st with 54 students becoming Par certified and seven Birdie certifications. We look forward to the experienced students returning next season and focusing our outreach to draw new students into the program.

  Program Developments
The First Tee Central Coast is participating in a national research project by an academic research team from University Nevada Las Vegas to evaluate the efficacy of the Life Skills program. The research data will provide a platform to promote the positive contributions of the Life Skills program to federal and private agencies, improve the operations of the program and identify effective traits of The First Tee Coach. Specific questions in the research include the degree to which interpersonal skills, self-management, and goal-setting have been learned by The First Tee students.
The First Tee Life Skills Experience

The First Tee Life Skills Experience is one of the unique features that differentiates The First Tee from many other successful junior golf programs.  Through the Life Skills Experience, participants learn valuable lessons about the importance of maintaining a positive attitude; how to make decisions by thinking about the possible consequences and how to define and set goals from the golf course to everyday life.
The First Tee Certification Process

The First Tee wants everyone who completes The First Tee Experience to have acquired basic golf skills and to be able to demonstrate certain fundamental life skill concepts – such as interpersonal communication and the importance of rules and etiquette.
The First Tee Coach

The First Tee Coach Program is an educational training program that prepares staff and volunteers at Chapters of The First Tee to deliver The First Tee Life Skills Experience, which includes the TARGET program, as well as the Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace levels of certification.
Assistant Coach Training
The First Tee Assistant Coach Training for individuals who want to be more involved with the ongoing coaching and mentoring of The First Tee participants at the Chapter level but may not be able to spend the time required to become recognized as a The First Tee Coach.
